If the Switch 2 is coming out next year, it would probably do so at the end of it.
The way I see it, the Switch has got at least 1-2 strong years left in it (with a very long tail for future software). There's no need to cannibalize it yet imo, especially with the utter lack of competition in the market. Their own device would be the biggest threat to themselves kek.
The only reason I can see for releasing their new console earlier would be to finally take advantage of the big 3rd party titles that they haven't been able to capitalize on yet like Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy, Baldur's Gate 3, etc
But even still, I don't think that would be worth it yet.
