They're not alone. "Conservatives" in Germany are also considering to bring back compulsory service. The socialists kinda maybe possibly want it, too, but they prefer "voluntary" service by somehow bribing people.

Except they've got no money for either model. So on top of conscripting people they have to figure out how to steal from them first to pay for it.
