It's very much an Islamic position that Islam has ALWAYS existed. There is a concept called the Um al-Kitab -- The Mother Book -- which is kind of like underlying truth of the universe, and the the Qur'an, The Bible, etc., reveals bits and pieces of the truth. The Qur'an is like a window to "the real." The um al-Kitab always has been, and always will be, and anyone mentioned in the Qur'an as a prophet or follower of God is part of that same tradition. Islam and Muhammad are the FINAL prophet and the FINAL revelation of this truth.
The Bible and Torah are included in these revelations, but they are partial, inferior, clouded, corrupted, compared to Islam.
It's completely Islam trying to appropriate other religious traditions' histories.
