I'm not such a cynical fuck that I don't think the story mode will come out fairly clean in spite of everything or at the very least it will satisfy normies

I'm not sure on that one. Given how the Saints Row remake/reboot/whatever game was a disaster even for normies, there's at least a chance Rockstar will do the same thing.
