BG3s role-playing resembles an upside-down funnel with a wider than average spout.
Act 1 is almost fully open ended do whatever have fun kid
Act 2 there is exactly one path through no matter what. You will always fight the guy and his undead Patton Oswalt sidekick
Act 3 is slightly more open but all endings are essentially the same unless you're a paragon of heroism. Then you get a party and, like, an actual ending
TLDR: my evil playthrough nearly killed the appeal of the game from a role playing perspective
