Its super indicative of their mindset too.
They are so deep in the rabbithole that they cannot even fathom having to be on the Right. The shame and persecution they think will follow is stronger than any principle they have. They believe the Right can offer no use or value to any problem and how dare they even pretend they can.
Their brain is so MSM rotted they believe every stereotype about the Right to be true, but have just the tiniest inkling of shame about their own side have "some issues" they want to address.
I suspect it's less the inability to see the Right as having some valid positions and more about how viciously their social circle will turn on them if they don't espouse all the approved opinions.
I've met a lot of milquetoast Left-leaners who are so lost in the "stereotypical right winger" that it precludes any other idea.
The notion that because The Right is racist/sexist/homo-haters and therefore evil, anything they say must be a front to do evil things and trick them rather than having any other principle.
Its one of the most effect narratives the Left has pushed. Because even the Right itself falls for it. Its why they spend all day trying to push blacks and womens and gays to the forefront to prove they totally aren't that way.
