I, a man, was a kid who never struggled in school. I was well-behaved, did my class work, sometimes did my homework, never got in fights, and rarely found anything tough. I was a good student. My teachers liked me. I liked most of my teachers.

My perspective "from the inside" was that everything was fine.

When I had my own kids, I began to see just how difficult schooling can be for many boys. Not all, but many. Modern school is essentially an effeminate undertaking and it's geared towards girls. Every year the percentage of male teachers K-12 decreases. This is why you often see girl children outperforming boys at a young age (elementary school and into middle school). Girls both mature faster and generally do better in the rigid behavioral framework of school.

Once you hit highschool and college, you see the boys starting to mature AND be able to be independent. This is when boys start overtaking girls in academic performance in many fields.

I think there's a lot to be said for gender segregated classes.

My oldest nephew the school was trying to send to the drug doctor in first grade because he wouldn't sit still or some nonsense. Yeah he can be a bit careless and hyper, but if you give him something he's interested in his attention span seems infinite. The youngest one starts I think in another year, it will be interesting, because he's going to be bored. He's already reading and spelling at age 4, so "hey kids, here's the letter A" is going to last about 5 seconds with him. I wish I could talk my brother into homeschooling or something else.

I only did well in elementary school because generally I could just quietly be left to my own devices. It gave me patience, I'll give it that. I can sit for hours on end and stare at a wall really well.

Gender segregated classes at the lower levels would go a long way. You know though if the boys ever pulled ahead of the girls at something, the feminists would flip out. Or there would be kids trying to tranny their way into the other one, etc.

I was a similar case as your older nephew. I couldn't sit still in elementary school, and teachers would bring up that I fidgeted a lot to my parents. At some point the school wanted to put me on meds. My parents told them to fuck off. As I grew older and classes began teaching things I didn't already know or couldn't grasp instantly (and was interested in learning) I was fairly calm and attentive.

I am forever thankful that my parents saw sense that I was probably just bored in school and were adamantly against the idea of fucking me up with meds.

This is an indictment of the school system. You were ahead, you could have stayed ahead, but they just let you learn nothing for years.
