A dark part of me wonders if the women who do this are acting out because they didn't get treated the way they really want to be treated.

How they want to be treated I leave up as an exercise for the reader to come up with.

You're correct. How they want to be treated is usually something akin to like 50 Shades or Twilight. Basically, women mad some rich successful hot guy isn't romancing them.
