A white character can’t present a relatable experience for a black audience, yes?
I'm not white or black, but the thought that a character needs to be the same color as you hadn't even crossed my mind until they started screaming about it non-stop 10 years ago. It still seems bizarre to me.
By the way, it is funny that these militant activist sort of people always say that they want to see people "who look like me". So... people look like them if they are black - all blacks look alike. That is one of the many statements that you can say if you're on one side and not when you're on another side.
