The funny thing about Fates is that that controversy did a massive favor for it.
Now its all people remember about it, and makes people reflexively defend it to not be on the same side as badthinkers.
So its god awful retard plot, literal gameplay required child abandonment and abuse mechanic, cast bloated with useless units that are numerically weaker than the Royals (who also get special weapons and Vein mechanics on top of it), many stupid mechanics like unbreakable weapons/pair up/skills that make it unrecognizable to the rest of the series and abusive "need all 3 games to get the story" split are all mostly a footnote on its reputation.
Shit its the only FE game where they don't even name their own continent because of how little they cared. But all of that gets pushed aside for the censorship discussion almost to its benefit by letting it appear as just "controversial" instead of out right bad.
