No man's Sky return was similar to Battlefield 4 in that when it released it was much less than expected but hard work by the devs delivered what was promised.
Fallout 4 thanks to the modding community will always be played like Skyrim which is so funny that Starfield restricted it's modding community
And Cyberpunk not only had some work put in but an excellent anime to draw people back in.
Starfield has NOTHING going for it for a return. I actually expect an increase in players with that Fallout tv show releasing soon. How many that increases by depends on how good it is.
Fallout 4 is an 'okay' FPS/RPG game, the main reason that people buy it these days is to load up on mods even though the modding support itself is cancer and depending on what they're trying to make you install I find it easier to code my own game than deal with any of that shit and I'm not even joking.
The gameplay itself is pretty good even if the perk system is pretty silly, the story is quite a jumbled mess but it was a game that was released just before the woke era truly kicked off which is why it's acceptable. I think people are playing Fallout 4 because unfortunately that's really all there is for that type of game. I post this as well as somebody who's put 100's of hours into that game, there's a lot of gameplay there.
Contrast that with Starfield and it's easy to see why Fallout 4 got a bump, it was probably people mentioning Fallout 4 as a better game and newbies getting that instead.
You can tell the choice to have a voiced protagonist fucked them over because there are HUGE indications of a lot more choices being available but cut off due to no dialogue for it (having an ending with most fractions alive to quest lines unexplored)
A lot of the mods simply open up areas that were left barren from expanding settlement areas both default with the game to dlc with Mechanist's lair to making the Minutemen a VIABLE faction as they are weaker than the Railroad in terms of firepower.
Difference between Fallout 4 and Starfield is Fallout 4 is a house with solid foundations but only half constructed so needs more work.
Starfield, the foundations are cracked and the supports were put in incorrectly..

Fallout 4 was kind of a big meh when it came out. I got a refund and wrote it off Bethesda becoming shittier, just like all the other companies.
Is it actually worth playing these days?

Pretend it's not a Fallout game but just a post apocalyptic shooter in a weird setting. Load up with mods like Horizon.
The Frost mod is outstanding post-apocalyptic fun, though extremely brutal.
