And then the Romans conquered them, converted them to Christianity, and over the next thousand years those Europeans built the most advanced civilization the world has ever seen.

I hate to be the AKSHUALLY guy but the conversion of Rome to Christianity directly precedes the Western Empire's gradual conquest by pagan barbarians.
