Not future, present.
There are racial enclaves in america that do not care about being american, they care about being (insert racial demographic here). The fact that we have Ilhan Omar in congress proves this, there are others that are just not there yet.
You used to see this with chinatown or little italy in industrial cities because those were the places where the most opportunity existed - and there were no real support structures outside your connection with others from the homeland.
Now, we have a massive welfare state that enables people to move as groups wherever they want, and not have to struggle to survive nearly as much, so they can just focus those efforts into political and other institutional capture.
I think it was ~2007 when a bunch of Mexicans decided to do a walk out. They rather notably walked out draped in the Mexican flag. They don't consider themselves to be American, but the worst part is they actually consider themselves to be superior.
