A bit of a longshot. It isn't the right kind of projection. Not zero, of course, they do bring it up on rare occasion, but they're more the violent types who see aliens blowing up and go "I must go on a shooting rampage! Wait, no, it's the video games making me think that!". They probably also have a good deal of self-loathing, and regret their lack of association with cultural touchstones, feeling left behind and left out, and are lashing out because they feel excluded.
I mean, Walshy boy has only been on the scene for a few years, but I've been a dead gamer for over a decade, and a live one before that, well aware of the culture war and Yuri Bezmenov's testimonies the entire time. Walsh whines that he started everything, when he showed up, like, 5 years ago, the kid. He clearly feels excluded and without a place of belonging.
