Years ago I posted a study on here that came to the “same” conclusion. Which is, when asked, black people believe they don’t receive equal pain management, despite no medical difference in diagnosis. The absurdity is unreal.
Obligatory Stonetoss: “How does this sell more Advil?”
“Advil?”
Part of this is “the narrative” but this is also what they’re training marketers and advertisers as a valid technique and it’s not necessarily wrong. Rather than buy on product value/quality - you market products on a moral campaign. To wit - if you’re not buying this, the bad guys win. It’s an extension of the “bandwagon” advertising strategy but it’s flipped over. Instead of “Everybody’s buying this, you should be too” (FOMO) you’ve got the “you NEED to buy this or you’re one of THEM.” (We will force you out?)
Bad example. They're telling blacks that the doctor's only telling them not to take more painkillers because he's a racist. Telling people that it's okay to buy more of your product sells more of your product.
