Anyways, what the journos say doesn't matter, when we literally have the words and actions of the CEO and employees as evidence. No amount of spin can wash away full admission of mafia strong-arm tactics in a fucking convention, nor the call to harassment of someone that showed themselves to be opposition.
Now the initial hilarity has faded of them desperately trying to cover this up I find it more interesting that when they were trotting out titles to defend their work it instantly made them look worse. Every title they listed was something that I've looked at personally for about five seconds and noped away from because even taking out the woke ideology they're simply bad games.
Walking simulators that have QTE are not fucking fun and never will be no matter how much cinematic polygon vomit they try to put on the screen. I loaded up Half Life 1 recently and even the low poly playstation style graphics and basic FPS gameplay and platforming appeal to me more than any of that crap.
Yes I know HL1 is one of the great classics and stuff but I do think the Half Life games are showing their age a bit when it comes to the source engine which I think is one of the reason CS2 fell pretty flat as a release despite it being in the top seller. You don't exactly see people raving about Valve games anymore. Everybody in the AAA industry is 100% focused on pumping out mediocrity or milking their current fanbase which is why indie titles are on the rise and they know it.
I know this will be controversial even here but I don't think if HL3 released today it would be any good, at best with the way modern engines are now in comparison to what Valve has in-house it will probably be mediocre.
I agree but more than than just the engine, all the original developers have probably moved onto other things. Any HL3 would be made by new people who have the "idea" what HL3 should be and not the spark that gave us Half-Life 2.
Even with the original team, the "Epistle Three" as originally outlined would have led to another massive cliff hanger and people would be clamoring for a HL4 that'd take another 15+ years.

If only they released HL3
