Yeah, that's kinda become a theme especially around where I live. People will set up some sort of trauma for themselves, whether it be intentionally getting into car accidents or leading their mentally unstable kid towards bad thoughts, then use go fund me to make a quick buck.
A few months ago we had a woman in her mid 40s get arrested because of it, after police got footage of her going 70KPH in a school zone then claiming on go fund me she couldn't drive her kid to important doctor's appointments. Not only did they find out that she never had a kid at all, but the van she "borrowed" for this incident had its brakes intentionally disabled.
