Today Google is celebrating Casimir Funk's 140th birthday. What's interesting about this is that Funk is a white man. He was "was among the first to discover and introduce the concept of vitamins and essential nutrients needed for human health."
Funk was Polish, so some would say he's not white-white, but I think most people consider Poles, Slavs, Irish, Italians, etc., white these days. When was the last time Google featured a white dude?
I am 100% sure this is to try to cover for the AI fiasco and the coverage it got. These companies really think we have the memory of a goldfish. They are half right, but seeing this, that Army recruitment ad, Budlight's recent marketing, it's almost more insulting than the nonsense that was pushed to begin with.
1 Doodle changes nothing, strange they did it. I've not seen their doodles in a long time, all I remember was some women or poc women that if you searched for 2 seconds you would have found out that they were no where near as important as the doodle made them seem.
It's always fun to look up who those people really were.
My favorite is Bessie Coleman. She's always celebrated as the first black female pilot. Our woke government even comissioned a quarter with her on the back saluting as a plane goes by.
What they don't tell you is she literally fell out of her plane. She wasn't wearing a seatbelt and fell out when the thing banked too hard. What a legacy.
Civilization VI had the same shit with making Marina Raskova a great general. She was a simple pilot, never in a position of great authority, and her kill record consists of four people - herself and her three co-passengers when she has crashed her plane over a friendly territory.
Oh man, Civ VI has a ton of these. I joke sometimes that the next expansion is going to feature new leader Astrophysicist Shaka.
They always find these minor female rulers or even consorts to the real leader to be the face of the civ.
I didn't know anything about Marina Raskova though. That's a new piece of info in my pocket, thanks.
It's the same sort of clown world logic that has the BBC talking about all native blacks throughout history.
They are trying to rewrite history.
I would have some respect for them if they admitted "obviously there have been few women leaders throughout history."
But no, we have to pretend that other cultures have always had this utopian gender balance that white people came along and screwed up.
That's just the best logical assumption I can make.
