This is a fun one, a study from 1991 on mothers of boys with “Gender Identity Disorder” showed that mothers of boys with GID had a 25% chance of borderline psychopathic disorder versus 0% in the control group, 46% of mothers with GID sons had scores in the BDI range (Beck depression inventory) versus 6% in the control group. All together mothers of sons with GID had a 53% chance of having DIB or BDI with the control group at 6% and exclusively in the depression inventory.

Not really. They used a small sample size (16 women with GID group, 17 in control group). That roughly 50% of the GID mothers had some psychopathic disorder or depression does not explain what is going on with the other half. And as someone else already said, whether this is some nature vs nurture thing and if women with these disorders are more likely to give birth to mentally ill sons as well.
This is one of those studies that really need follow up studies.
