I know plenty of disaffected leftists who think RFK is the best alternative to Biden. RFK is absolutely going to be a net negative for Trump.

Would they otherwise be voting Trump?

The good thing about RFK is that he is a safety valve in case Trump dies and they put Haley on the ballot (unlikely but possible), or if the DoJ makes a deal with Trump to drop out in exchange for dropping the political charges (considering he'll be convicted and jailed regardless of innocence, unlikely but not impossible).
