A lot of Europeans seem to have an inferiority complex with the US. They HAVE to be better than the US and seek validation from mass media based in the US. Since the US is obsessed with racism, sexism, LGBT, etc, the Europeans have decided that they MUST be even more extreme on the obsession so that they can appear more “enlightened” and “virtuous” compared to their US counterparts. Canada is exactly the same way. They shape their entire identity around how superior they are to Americans.
