Japan is "invested" in space tech because the USA told them to be. Japan is our airbase. We are in a tech and troop integration agreement with Japan and Australia to help hem in China. Australia is getting to buy and even build our nuclear attack sub designs (war-in-a-can) and Japan is tasked with space tech, surveillance, and data integration.
