With the exception of proven liars and grifters (and particularly heated arguments at times), I prefer to take people at face value about what they claim their beliefs are, rather than tell them what they believe. That doesn't mean they can't be hypocrites, however.
I can't say I have perfect insight into the white nationalist mind but it's fairly obvious they're not as simple as you paint them and I think you're doing yourself a disservice by only allowing yourself to see them as caricatures. The invective gets pretty intense sometimes, maybe you're focusing too much on that?
I'm not perceiving them as caricatures, but idealogues; just as I would any International Socialist. Socialists, universally, only care about acquiring power. They don't even necessarily care about holding it because their obsession and lust for power is nearly deranged. Everyone who is not operating on that activist streak is simply operating from a positions of Useful Idiocy.
The one-track mind that is prepared to sacrifice every principle is not a bug, it is an explicit feature.
