This is a wealth transfer to the LPC's voter base.
Canada Revenue Agency reports that for tax season 2021, there were ~8M taxpayers in the $49k or less tax bracket, with the largest clusters in the 18-34 and Women 55+ age groups.
With women accounting for ~57% of all the $49k or less taxpayers.
To nobody's surprise, the LPC's largest voter groups, according to Decision Canada, are 18-34 and Women 55+, which also happen to be the weaker demographic voter groups for the CPC. The CPC's larger voter group is Men 35-54, which happens to be the largest taxpayer group by revenue (the group who will be paying for this UBI program).
What a fucking coincidence!
I think at this point it's pretty obvious that women never should have been allowed to vote. Although if you point that out to normies you'll get tarred and feathered.
A near identical proxy that would be more palatable is to prevent people who aren't net taxpayers from voting. It makes complete sense, because they don't have any skin in the game. They're basically debating how to spend other people's money, so of course they'll vote to spend it on themselves.
