But it seems you are excusing it, since you object to people calling it out. You seem to view "don't do porn" as an extremist message, despite being pretty much unequivocally a positive and correct bit of advice.
Back in the day for example I had no idea why people would do shit like drugs or alcohol badly and harm themselves in such a way. Now after being around a bit I completely get it. I feel like if more people got it they would maybe look for real solutions.
Agreed, but I don't think that real solution is just handwaving and blaming the definitely shitty economy and society. Why they're doing it doesn't change that they shouldn't be doing it.
With regards to gaming as well, it didn't used to be like this though I'm sure people will know. Something I am angry about and can do something about as an individual is fight back against this actual psyop against the male population that the games industry has turned into.
Yup. And I like your idea of returning LAN parties. Let's get 'er done. Reject modernity, embrace tradition.
Maybe you haven't seen my posts, but I'd say I'm one of the most principled defenders of porn here actually, despite also stating its harms and encouraging people not to do it.
Porn is speech, don't ban porn. But it's still bad.
...if you don't 'defend' porn then it's going to cause a cascade effect of oh let's just censor any other 'degenerate filth' that we don't like.
Totally agreed, and I've said the same multiple times, often somewhat unpopularly. There's a difference between defending porn existing and defending or justifying overuse of porn though.
The government shouldn't ban porn. Men shouldn't watch porn, or should at the very least severely limit consumption. Both can be true.
By all means, preach against it, but it's the same reason I'll defend some of the most vile opinions on the internet, free expression and free speech.
Honestly, I'm enjoying this, first time I ever got lumped into the "anti-porn" side, I'm usually the "pro-porn degenerate." Fun change of pace.
Again, for the record, no hate toward you. But if you look back you'll see I never argued against the existence of porn, I argued against handwaving away people using porn to excess.
I'm talking personal responsibility, not censorship or government intervention. Fuck the government, they can pry my choice to watch porn from my cold dead hands. Because you're right, it is an important argument, and a massive canary in the coalmine.
I've been very outspoken against "ID laws" too, as they're completely retarded levels of government overreach. I've argued extensively (and fruitlessly) against the anti-porn side on that, actually. They don't want to get that it's not about keeping kids from porn, and that ID laws affect everyone, not just kids. You're an unknown until you provide said ID, so it affects everyone. ID laws are insidious, and will be the death of the internet if allowed to get a foot in the door. Government doesn't get to say what information I access, and if they get more power to monitor and control even one aspect of the internet, they get it all.
This is the kind of moral panic that was around in the 90's, leftist hate speech is just a different left wing iteration of it.
Again, I've literally never argued for the banning of porn, as that would be extremely dangerous and goes against my principles too. But it's also not just a moral panic; porn is bad.
But, yeah, not taking shots at you, this is just honest amusement, but I like how you seem to have assumed I hold beliefs I am in fact strictly opposed to.
