I've said it before, when DeSantis first declared his intent to run as President. It was a bad move. He was the most popular governor in the US, he'd pushed great policies, he had the support of most Republicans. Now look at him. He should have publicly supported Trump, continued being a great governor instead of completely losing his focus on his job, sat this one out, and run in 4 years with the full support of the entire Trump base. By choosing otherwise, his future political career is now at risk. He will not win the nomination, and he should have quit weeks ago, or even long before. Did he really just ignore the letter from his colleagues telling him to get back to work at the public service job he was nominated for?
I think that's fair, but imagine Desantis as AG. If Trump is smart he will reconcile and use Desantis where he's good.
If DeSantis is smart, he'll try to reconcile with Trump and he'll provide the people a reason explaining why he was so hesitant to discredit the obviously bogus accusations levied against Trump. I think that comes before giving him any official position.
Also, although I'm not 100% on the specifics, isn't DeSantis still going to technically be Governor of Florida for several months after the presidential election? He should finish that term before he becomes AG, at least. It's what the people voted for.
Don't disagree. Losing him in Florida would hurt, but we need someone who is going to come out swinging for AG. Tough call to make
