This is why I view NPCs as borderline real these days even if it was originally a shit post meme, they're people wondering around as paid propagandists or they latch onto some ideological viewpoint for other reasons like climbing the social ladder. Once you realise that, then it all becomes a lot easier to process.
Psychopaths walk among us and we're nothing more than stepping stones to them. It's much harder for somebody who doesn't view people as disposable that way generally to understand but when it happens it's pretty black pilling. I've ranted about this with some of my own experiences trying to make 'friends' unfortunately it's depressingly common these days.
If there's one piece of sage advice I would give anyone especially young people if you meet anyone new always befriend the people they know as well, it pays off because then you know if you're being gaslit and they're screwing with you because they will meet you round the back and let you know what's going on and confirm that yeah the person is not fun to be around anymore.
Even when shit wasn't political with some people I knew looking back there were red flags in their behaviour generally popping up and it's sad because we were just hanging out in groups trying to have fun. Other times though it was simply a case of sperging out over fuck all and me not wanting to deal with that shit again.
