Women have this instinct, though. They have it first before they have maternal instincts about a pregnancy. It's something natural, if, like a lot of natural things, quite ugly. How we protect each other from our baser instincts is really what defines us, so I'm not claiming that any innateness detracts from culpability. It tempers your expectations, though.
