I remember some Mexican in a gaming community loudly boasting about this sort of thing on some forums. He also bragged about going to college in the states with his tuition paid for by scholarship or some other financial aide thing, likely paid for with US tax dollars.

The guy was already an annoying jackass, but that shit really burned a particular impression on me.
