It's not just Oregon. Things in NY are functionally at the same level. Technically there's still graduation standards, but it is functionally impossible to fail a high school student unless they literally never show up to class.
Fair, but it has to be NEVER showing up. Even if you show up like 1 day every week or two, you just need to tell the teacher "Hey, I want to make up all the work I missed" and the teacher is required to give you a chance to do so.
They don't make up the work though, those sorts of students only show up occasionally to hang out with friends, hook up with girls/guys, and probably sell drugs.
States just need to stop recognizing high school credit from Oregon and force a GED test for anyone with a diploma from there.
The civil rights act makes it illegal to use any kind of meaningful performance testing.
Not for jobs. I worked for a large, publicly traded company that had tests for every job.
