The thing about making too many enemies on the global stage is, they're not too inclined to buy your bonds, because doing so would be suicidal. Are you really going to pay the US to buy missiles to point them at you?

If no one's buying US bonds, then there's only the lender of last resort: the Federal Reserve. And if the only buyer of your bonds is your-fucking-self, guess what happens?
