Reminds me of the fact that Crichton mentions Palestine as a key example in his description of this:
“Briefly stated, the Gell-Mann Amnesia effect is as follows. You open the newspaper to an article on some subject you know well. In Murray’s case, physics. In mine, show business. You read the article and see the journalist has absolutely no understanding of either the facts or the issues. Often, the article is so wrong it actually presents the story backward—reversing cause and effect. I call these the “wet streets cause rain” stories. Paper’s full of them.
In any case, you read with exasperation or amusement the multiple errors in a story, and then turn the page to national or international affairs, and read as if the rest of the newspaper was somehow more accurate about Palestine than the baloney you just read. You turn the page, and forget what you know.”
– Michael Crichton (1942-2008)
It's a very true thing. I don't think enough people have experienced it but what first opened my eyes to it was I went to a concert and a friend of a friend of mine died later that night. It was from drugs. The story made the news and I already knew exactly what happened straight from her roommate (who found her dead) and friends that were around her all night. The media lied about everything. The thing was, the police wanted to push their own political agenda and used the incident to push propaganda. Absolutely nothing about the story was accurate. The only thing they got right was that she died. They didn't even get the drug she died from right. The whole story was total propaganda and I remember hearing people in the community talk about it. Everyone's idea of the story was what the media said. I remember correcting people based on my insider information straight from the source and most people did not believe me. They believed the media. It really opened my eyes then to how wrong the media is. It's all fucking lies.
In 2020, I stayed up late watching live riot footage streamed directly from Minneapolis. Tried talking to people about it the next day and all the normies said the protests were “mostly peaceful” and the riots were totally overblown - CNN’s exact narrative. I said, “No, I watched violent protestors storm a police station and force an evacuation. I watched buildings literally burn.” This was met with blank stares, subject changes, etc.
The average person is essentially brainwashed.
Chrichton was right about everything - especially global warming
It is amazing how many modern prophets there have been that'd nobody listened to. What is that verse in the Bible about how near the end people will worship falsehood as truth?
