Which version? The 1946 one with Lana Turner and John Garfield, or the 1981 version with Nicholson and Jessica Lange?
And have you watched “Double Indemnity”?
The 1946 version. I wasn’t aware there was an 81 version. I haven’t seen Double Indemnity but I ordered the book along with Postman. There was a Simpsons episode that did a parody of the plot but at the time I didn’t realize it
True. But it’s funny how many times as an adult I watch an old movie and recognize it as something the Simpsons referenced. Like the first time I saw Dr Strangelove
I haven’t seen either one, but I do have them on the list. (I also have the book on my list as well.)
I remember when the 1981 version was in theaters…
My Saturday Movie Group watched “Double Indemnity” (the Criterion edition) recently, and I thought that was a swell noir film. Edward G. Robinson is really underrated.
And those of a certain age may remember Fred MacMurray as the friendly dad from “My Three Sons”. “Double Indemnity” and “The Apartment” are revelations if that’s all you’ve ever seen him in.
I gotta see that. I love My Three Sons
Will check it out, thanks.
What is the genre of the movie.
Film noir. The 1946 “Postman” is considered one of the classics of the genre.
I can’t wait to read the book
Made in 46 so I’m thinking noir or crime drama
What's good about it?
The suspense and I really liked the ending. Very ironic but goes to show your sins will get you in the end. At least that is what I got out of it
