Most political crises are years or decades in the making. We had a whole lot more female heads of state not very long ago, they just all had to resign in varying degrees of disgrace for their fuckups, some of which directly led us here.

"We have next to no female heads of state" shouldn't be read as a castigation, it should be read as a message of hope for the future.
