Nah, they wouldn't actively kill you just because they want you dead. They have more subtle long-term ways of making you dead, and don't have to actually kill you physically. Now, they would kill you physically if it could be used to get involved in another war, or otherwise put pressure on someone, so you are still in danger...but they won't actively kill you just because they hate you. And they do absolutely hate you.
