From what I heard, it's the best adaptation of an Anime so far, and a side benefit is that more people are watching the Anime and reading the manga now.

Hopefully the lesson is 'stick as close to the source material as possible (given the limits of being human and special effects) and don't inject constant massaging to get a successful show'

Though I doubt the ones currently on strike will ever learn this lesson.
