In addition to starring as O'Connor, Maya also plays six different characters from the author's short stories that are depicted in the film. It's those roles that required her to perform in some intimate scenes – which were, of course, overseen by her father.

I like O’Connor’s writing. (Except for “The Life You Save May Be Your Own”, which I think everyone had to read in high school, and which I think is her worst story.)
I do not recall any sex scenes, or scenes of intimacy, in any of her stories.

Right there with you, good stories. I think the most memorable to me is the tattoo one (I'm forgetting the name). A Good Man is Hard to Find also.
Likewise, I don't remember any sex scenes...
