That analogy gets better and better the more I think about it, especially because Disney fairytales are all themed on chastity whether that was intentional or not. Ariel doesn't see Prince Eric and try to bang him, she commits to a quest to marry him.
A lot of modern women probably translate the courtship in the plot as shagging their boyfriend, or translate the marriage as a simple LTR, but even if you allowed for that, hookup culture is way beyond those boundaries.
I mean, they're aimed at kids. I don't think Ariel wanting a ride on the D is exactly a topic they're going to want to cover.
Lmao true. But kid's stories have always had ways to indicate a guy and a girl are sleeping together, or at least leave the possibility open. They just don't have the same audience appeal as traditional romances because it's less of a firm resolution, tone is more casual, stakes aren't as high... makes you think.
