When I asked HR how this didn't violate anti-discrimination law I was given a hand-wavy answer about how it wasn't "discrimination" because in theory they weren't requiring the diverse candidate be hired. Which made no sense because having different hiring processes based on race is by definition "discrimination".
These kind of cute little word games are 100% illegal and the sort of thing that lawyers and courts used to make a living out of destroying. It's the legal equivalent of a criminal wearing gloves to get around "that CSI thing" and getting caught with DNA from hair fibers anyway. Unfortunately many of our lawyers and judges are equally retarded at the moment.
