Nothing but speculation based off some birds many millions of years evolved of course. While I don't deny that "cooing" might have been a part of their animal vernacular, there are enough examples of roaring and hissing among archaic species to suggest that they were probably a little more verbose in their threats.
Large cockatoos will wreck your eardrums too. I couldn't find an example of the deafening SSKKKRRROOOOOAAAAR I heard one do in the petshop, but here is one ''whining'' loudly :
The long, powerful scream I heard in the petshop, 20 feet away, was physically painful to the eardrums.
Oh and they can send you to the hospital if they attack you. One good bite = need stitches.
They sometimes ''bait'' costumers by acting cute begging to be pet ( they put their foot on the head ), then putting the foot out the cage bars to grab a finger, pull the finger, bite the finger.
And dumb costumers don't listen when you tell them ''carefull, it bites, it hates people''.
