They wrote a letter of support for a friend who was charged with rape. Why?

Innocent until proven guilty?

Because they weren't eyewitnesses to any rape and had no reason to believe that the person who they know as a friend would do such a thing?

They're not claiming 'innocent until proven guilty', they're defending their friend. And I assume not everything that Ashton Kutcher does not witness did not happen.
