I don't think he has a "mastermind", exactly. He's just got a lot of friends in similar positions to him, making suggestions and following the same steps as all the others, because they've determined and agreed that the results are beneficial to them. They're a collective, not a hierarchy. Sure, he's not the one who came up with the general outline of the plan, but that doesn't stop him from following it and keeping the gains for himself.
