In my early, hopeful stage of hearing this, I don’t think it would make sense for Lucas to have gone back only to have his hands tied - as a marketing stunt basically.
That being said, it would be far easier to try to “recapture the spirit” of Star Wars to him, than to actually try to fix their total cockup of a “trilogy”...but it’s not impossible either.
It could probably even be done without explicitly using “time travel” but just some shiet about the universal balance of the force, “parallel” universes based on our choices, a wound in the force, whatever.
I guess I’m just
a) cautiously optimistic
b) tired of being preemptively negative (even if that’s been borne out basically 99% of the time).
If they continue to suck, great, I’ll continue to not give a shit. But a Christopher Nolan or Timothy Zahn led Star Wars could be dope.
Unless he's able to say "it was all a dream" there's nothing he could do to fix things.

So:
But all is forgiven, because Daddy is home and the "force balance?"
Yeah. All yours buddy. Keep it all.
You make one change, Luke never tried to kill child Adam Driver, and the rest falls into place.
