Firstly, although vastly preferable, Lucas has made a series of blunders himself, so this isn't something to get too excited about in my opinion. Secondly, and more importantly, I'm not even sure I believe it. This may just be throwing more money at the man to get his seal of approval. This smells like marketing. Just because they claim he'll have final say, doesn't mean he will. Or even if he does, that that final say won't be biased by his wanting to stay attached to the project. I think Star Wars has almost as much of a chance to be bad with Lucas as without him, at this point.
This is potentially a marginal improvement, but nothing to write home about.
