Based on what I've read, Lucy Letby is being blamed for deaths but there's no direct evidence for her involvement in the deaths.
According to others who are more invested in this story than I care to be, when Letby was removed from her position deaths of babies at her ward actually increased. It seems like it's a way for the NHS/Hospital to deflect blame from having babies in shitty conditions.
