If you could fire one showrunner of any book/game adaption or remake/"reimagining" that has been done since 2016 who would it be?
Very tough choice for me, but I think I would fire the showrunner for Wheel of Time. I'd love to tell him to his face that I wanted someone to actually adapt the book and to not inject their personal garbage. The guy actually said that he wanted to bring out lgbt stuff that the book only hints at or doesn't go into detail about, but when the book specifically describes how people look, that doesn't seem to matter. Or the whole Dragon Reborn prophecy doesn't seem to matter amongst other things. You could've have had such a popular show with someone who actually cared about adapting the books.
I guess an honorable mention would be to fire in advance the lady who is doing the Chronicles of Narnia butchering.... I mean adaptation for Netflix, but there are so many I could pick.
Too many to choose from if I go Disney franchises, Star Wars, Artemis Foul, even Pixar stuff like choosing to make a 4th Toy Story after the 3rd had a perfect send off.
I'm instead going to go the Witcher Netflix series, with Henry Cavill being such a fan of the franchise and the main star, from everything that came out after he left it sounds like a change in showrunner COULD have saved that series as then he'd be the strongest person in that production.
I have the Witcher books in my immediate “to read stack” along with Elric books. I played the game and it was fun. This show could’ve been huge. Cavill is too polite to really tear them apart, that one writer said everything we suspected. Then it came out that the person in charge of casting didn’t want to cast a beautiful white woman for dumb woke reasons. I’ve only heard of Artemis Foul. What did they do to it?
DON'T look up the trailers, if you've read the books it physically hurts how they turned what was essentially a kid friendly version of Light, a child criminal mastermind into generic child protagonist 48.
