If you could fire one showrunner of any book/game adaption or remake/"reimagining" that has been done since 2016 who would it be?
Very tough choice for me, but I think I would fire the showrunner for Wheel of Time. I'd love to tell him to his face that I wanted someone to actually adapt the book and to not inject their personal garbage. The guy actually said that he wanted to bring out lgbt stuff that the book only hints at or doesn't go into detail about, but when the book specifically describes how people look, that doesn't seem to matter. Or the whole Dragon Reborn prophecy doesn't seem to matter amongst other things. You could've have had such a popular show with someone who actually cared about adapting the books.
I guess an honorable mention would be to fire in advance the lady who is doing the Chronicles of Narnia butchering.... I mean adaptation for Netflix, but there are so many I could pick.
The books are a near nonstop parade of bitchy women, nagging and glaring. To be quite frank I don't think you can get a genuinely good TV adaptation out of a series like Wheel of Time.
Sadly to answer your question I'll have to break the rules and go way before 2016. Because my answer is Joss Whedon. I consider him and his shows to be largely responsible for a lot of the more obnoxious personality defects of the millennial generation.
What about an anime style adaptation for WOT? Joss Whedon created Buffy right?
An anime might work if you could get it in a more watercolor style. Dunno if Ghibli is in the market for more though.
And yes he's the creepy pervert behind the Buffy series.
Yeah I read the first WoT book and decided not to bother with any more. Too many scenes involving a guy missing/screwing up while some thot near him aces it perfectly (and the author took the time to write how she smirks at him).
I don't think I made it past book 3. The exchange went something like "I swear if he says some butch folds her arms under her breasts again..." And then literally the next page. Tossed it aside.
What is crazy is that they meet people of different races once they go on their journey and see other countries but I guess that isn’t good enough. It makes perfect sense that an isolated village would be racially homogenous. The casting choices were my first indication the showrunner was a moron.
Gotta erase those white specific hair colors.
