I call bullshit on the picture. That isn't a cell, it's a supply closet. It has an electrical outlet. The basin is for a mop.
He had someone on the inside help him get into the room with a mat for staged photos.
Any actual cell would at a minimum have a toilet in it. This isn't Thailand or Mexico - the prisons are built with explicit requirements. Solitary confinement cells exist but they don't look like this at all.
Samsel has a history of violent crime.
It probably is a supply closet, and I wouldn't be surprised if he was kept trapped within it.
"The US Torture Program didn't real bro." "CIA Black Sites are a right-wing conspiracy theory!" "Abu Ghrab is just Leftist anti-war propaganda!"
One of the more controversial deaths in the US torture program was a man who died from heat exhaustion because he was chained to the inside of a connex box (shipping container) in a desert at well over 130 F. For several days, they anally inserted hummus into his ass and made him shit it out on himself repeatedly as they demanded information for him. By the end of the week, they locked the container and forgot about him. In the CIA's own report, they admitted that they had forgotten about him over the weekend, and he had died without food and water for the entire weekend under extreme heat conditions and no fresh air, still covered in his shit hummus.
That's what the feds like to do to people they don't like.
You know who Darren Rainey is?
He was a schizophrenic prisoner who was serving time for a cocaine possession charge. He was boiled to death by the prison guards.
Being a cocaine addicted schizophrenic, he shit himself and smeared feces all over the walls of his cell. The prison guards him placed in a shower with water spraying on him at the highest possible pressure and temperature for over two hours. The water temperature seems to have been somewhere around 160 F, or 71 C. He suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns all over his body.
This wasn't a CIA blacksite, this was just Miami-Dade county.
But they, thanks for letting us know you don't know a fucking thing about the worst parts of the American prison system.
That's a dilemma our Northern American brethren have to face...
Like everywhere else in the West, they too are under assault by the usual suspects using the usual motives, a.k.a : "America bad" so I kind of understand them going on the other end of the spectrum with "America #1!" and drinking the kool aid.
That make dealing with people here, or /pol/ack material rather difficult, since they will use the same leftoids rhetoric used against any of us depending on where you're from in the West or simply smugly larp about any form of "USA #1" that is as obnoxious as listening to vegans of bible thumpers.
I wish the people from the USA here would understand: When the rest of the West is angry at the USA, it's not the people, no one is "jealous of your freedom" or whatever nonsense Fox or CNN might tell you, it's the government, if you think they're harsh on you, you do have not the slightest idea of what the glowies are doing, especially to their supposed allies.
What Girotnik said is just the tip of the iceberg, I was in Iraq myself, I saw the 2AM raids, the humiliations of a very very conservative and religious people in their homestead, the torture chambers? re-opened; the previous warden? re-hired, the pictures of what they did in there? leaked.

I'd hate to say it, but this is a very anglo problem with an anglo mindset. The English are... sigh.... were a people that happened to be supremacist, parochial, but then also the leaders of a world spanning Empire. As such, the British Empire was prepared to commit atrocities while rationalizing it for the good of England. I still see this attitude even among the LotusEaters staff who don't realize just how much brutality the British were prepared to engage in.
I'll still give them credit though: if you had to live under the rule of an empire, you'd choose the British one in a heart-beat. They just don't quite understand that standing against the British Empire meant you, your families, your neighbors, and your children were going to die, or be otherwise enslaved. Anglicization did have positive effects, but it doesn't make the ethnic cleansings and cultural pogroms any less awful.
Americans, unfortunately, inherited this because we wanted to be the "anglos in the woods" that certain English philosophers talk about. We also wanted to be a republic, but we took all of the English supremacism, and made it nearly unrestricted on ourselves. Due to the sheer power of the US, our elites have taken this golden opportunity to create an American empire that can strangle the world. Unlike the British, we don't even really help people develop. We are a Liberal empire, and we try to subvert and destroy things we don't like, hoping that the "universal values of liberalism" just ... happen. There is no intentional process of Americanization, like Anglicanization. American culture is just kind of subversive and overwhelming.
The American people have no real knowledge of any of this, because why would they? They don't want an empire, they don't hate their country, and they do want to believe that someone can come to America and ask us to kick a bad guy's ass for them. But it's never so simple, and by ignoring it, our Empire of Columbia has run rampant.
It's strange, but it's true that the first real threat to the Empire of Columbia in well over 100 years is the MAGA movement, which genuinely wants to reduce it's footprint, and is recognizing that the Empire of Columbia, is occupying the United States; in the same way that the British Empire is currently occupying England.
