These types have a terrible understanding of scale. To them 100 years feels like an infinity, because in just a few decades of their lifetime we have jumped forward in technology and "progress" lightyears.

They can't fathom that that is very unique to just right now and otherwise humanity has been relatively stagnant for all of its history compared to it.
