Thing is, how exactly was suppose the insurrection to work? You had some people with zip ties. Lets say that they somehow use those to restrain every one there. Then Trump goes in and declares himself emperor of US, then what? He is not magically granted the title of emperor, he has no army behind him.
Second if he wanted to be dictator how come he did not become one during Covid, like power hungry leftists in Australia, New-Zeland and Canada?
In fact, Trump's generals were overwhelmingly opposed to him, to the point of openly siding with communist rioters. If it had somehow been an actual insurrection and not spontaneous unguided tours of the Capitol then Mike Pence and Nancy Pelosi would have gleefully let Mark Milley send in hundreds of soldiers to execute everybody there.
With no ties to the military himself, he didn't know who would be loyal to the constitution or not. There was someone who could help, but Pence made Flynn nuclear and Trump, not understanding he was being rope-a-doped from making any smart changes in the brass, wouldn't reach out to him.
This is what was so frustrating about it all. Trump talked the talk and walked the walk where he could but in places he could not he simply did nothing instead. Half measures result in the obvious outcome: traitors maintain control while his giant blind spot provided a breeding ground for even more sedition.
